Dark lips, glittery eyeshadow, and a pumpkin spice latte in hand. Feel that crisp cool air? Not really? Well, I guess in Dubai with temperatures still in the 30s a girl can dream!
Never mind the weather; we still need to look on trend! Autumn season is all about the rich, fall colors. Growing up in New England, this was always my favorite time of year. Class trips to the pumpkin patch, apple picking, the changing colors of leaves. Ahhh...
Here are my favorite fall makeup trends this year. Light a pumpkin spice candle and enjoy...
Darker lipstick is usually a given once the Earth tilts away from the sun. Nothing quite says I'm getting ready to be cold and miserable like dark lips. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, however, this year the trend is the darker those lips, the better. Gone are the days of berry hued lipsticks. Dark, nearly black but not-quite-black, have taken its place. I love Huda Beauty liquid matte lipstick in Material Girl (100aed, Sephora) and L’Oreal L’Extraordinaire by Color Riche in shade 462 (75aed, Lifestyle Stores).
Dramatic Winged Eyeliner:
Yes, I know what you're thinking.
Eyeliner has always been in style so why is it suddenly a trend? Well, the answer is that this season, it's all about the dramatic wing. Winged eyeliner (or cat-eye eyeliner as some like to call it) is alluring, sensual and dynamic. It's bold, intense and oozes sultry vibes. My favorite type of eyeliner for this look is a liquid pen. I find it to be the easiest to use, most fool proof and not messy. My favorite eyeliner pen of the moment is Kat Von D beauty Tattoo Liner in Trooper (99aed, Sephora).
Not sure how to do a winged liner? No worries, I've got you covered! Remember, it takes a little practice. If you don't get it right on the first or second try, keep trying. You can always email me at hello@thebeautymajlis for some encouragement and support!
This season, glittery eyes are IN! Perfect for date nights, parties or hey, if you're like me, just walking around the mall! I love glittery eyes. It brightens up the face and is just plain old fun to wear!
If you don't have any super glittery eyeshadows and still want to get in on this fun trend, I have a great beauty trick for you! Using a packing eyeshadow brush (think flat, dome shaped brush), wet the brush with a makeup spray like Mac Fix+ or water (not recommended but let's get real...I use water all the time) and wipe the brush several times on a shimmer shadow. Then apply this brush in a wiping motion across your eyelid. Aha! A glittery effect. Feel free to repeat these steps to build up your glitter effect.
Orange and Cranberry Eyeshadow:
Another eye trend is orange and cranberry eyeshadows. This may seem intimidating to beauty newbies but, fear not, they're actually quite simple to apply and wear. Think of these colors as an expansion to champagnes, bronze and brown shades.
The simplest way to apply these eyeshadows is to use an orange toned shadow as a transition color (that means apply the color in your crease and a little bit above with a fluffy eyeshadow brush). Apply the cranberry shadow all over the lid. You can use a medium brown in the outer corner of your eye and blend it slightly with the orange and cranberry shadows to soften the effect.
You can also use each color by itself. Both blend beautiful with champagne and golden toned eyeshadows and matte browns! Show here is the Tom Ford Honeymoon Eyeshadow quad which features a beautiful rust colored shade in the orange/cranberry family. (375aed, Bloomingdales).
