I am a big believer that beauty starts with skincare. Makeup is a wonderful tool to enhance your natural beauty but it cannot fix skin that is not cared for properly. There is no such thing as perfect skin, but with the right skin care, you can achieve your best skin possible.
Tish Tash Talks, a prominent beauty public relations agency in Dubai, offered me a complimentary facial by the local UAE beauty brand, Herbal Essentials. Naturally, I jumped at the chance! I love to try out new beauty products and am always on the hunt for the latest and greatest products for my skin.
As a rule of thumb, skin care products should be switched up every few months. Otherwise, skin will get too used to continual use of the same products. When that happens, the products will stop being as effective. The result? Unhappy skin! ...and who wants that?
Since Herbal Essentials is a beauty brand I am not familiar with, I read up on the line before my facial and felt very inspired by what I discovered. The philosophy behind this cruelty free brand is for skin to "heal from within" using naturally derived products that follow the principles of Ayurveda. The products contain Himalayan spring water and high quality, organic essential oils. This beauty brand offers a full range of skincare products for every skin type. In addition to their face washes, scrubs and lotions, Herbal Essentials also offers anti-aging products including an eye gel containing hyaluronic acid, sun care oils, and hydrating body cream.
At the start of my facial, the skincare specialist performed an analysis of my skin. The results were my skin is extremely dry (which I already knew) and acne-prone. I found this surprising because usually I have a blemish once every three years! Ironically, this happens to be that once every three years and I currently have two blemishes on my cheek. She explained to me in addition to my two new "friends", I have whiteheads underneath my skin. Yikes!
The specialist then showed me the products she would use on my skin to treat both my dry and acne-prone (still not completely convinced!) skin. The scents of the products stood out the most to me during the facial. The aromas of sweet almond, honey and apricot filled the air as she gently massaged the various products into my skin. Typically, I tend to buy scentless products since I have slightly sensitive skin. I find that added scents sometimes irritate my skin. The lovely fragrances of the Herbal Essentials products were such a treat for me.
Overall, I enjoyed the products that the specialist used. I typically stick to Clarins skincare so I was unsure how my skin would react to drugstore skincare. My skin felt soft and supple after the facial instead of my usual tightness. It also felt refreshingly moisturized for the rest of the day.
I purchased the White Lily and Ginger face wash because it was light, hydrating and gentle. I would not use this face wash at the end of the day when removing my makeup, however, I feel that it will be effective in the morning and after sweat sessions at the gym. I personally do not recommend the Papaya Fruit and Honey Face Mask for people with dry skin because it contains clay. I tend to avoid clay based products because I find them drying and I did feel tightness in my skin when the mask was resting on my face. If Herbal Essentials develops a cream based mask, I would be keen to try it. I also recommend the Premium Under Eye Gel because it contains hyaluronic acid, known for its line smoothing, hydrating and anti-aging properties.
Herbal Essentials is available for purchase at Boots. You can visit www.herbal-essentials.com to find out more about the products offered! Thank you Tish Tash Talks for this experience!
